Knitting and Shopping

So I'm attempting a 5 hour baby sweater for my cousin's upcoming baby. Diane inspired me! It is coming along pretty well. I'm about to start the harder part so I'm crossing my fingers. I already kint a purl row by accident. Woops! Also, totally random find...I started this hat back in March and found it amidst some yarn yesterday so I finished it up! Here it is, my very first knitted hat:
It sometimes throws me for a loop when I discover a project so close to being finished like that. I literally only had about 10 more minutes of knitting left on that thing! Too bad it is in the 90s around here now!

I've been working on a few other things too but all that said I am eagerly awaiting a crafty purchase I made over at repro depot. Did you see Marimekko is on sale? Plus I bought some new sublime stitching patterns. Can you guess which ones I bought? I have to say I have always been an excellent crafty shopper!

A trip back to 1990

I found the most amazing memory today while packing up potting soil and some unused planters and gardening tools. I came across a box of letters written to me when I spent 2 months in Tacoma, WA in 1990, the summer after 7th grade. Who knows why in the world I still have them or why they were in with the gardening equipment (although placing them there is completely something I would do in some random moment). Take a look:

"Oh my gosh. I took jazz from this guy & I swear all he said the whole time was 'tighten the buns!'"

"The only thing that keeps me going are your letters and knowing I'm going to be 13."
Such drama! Anotherother find: a bunch of paper dolls!

I'll have to think of something crafty to do with them...or just save them. I still love paper dolls. I had no idea any of these things existed and barely remember any of it really, even that time period of my life. What a random find!! Sometimes it pays to be a bit of pack-rat! Lastly, here my former craft area is all packed up: Do you see Lola? I did leave out some crochet hooks and embroidery floss though...just in case!

30 ain't so bad...

So I am officially 30. It still doesn't seem quite right, but so it is. I have to say the birthday part was pretty nice. It helps that I took the whole week off though (minus one meeting this afternoon). I was treated to lunch by my best bud Kelli at the Northstar and then it was off to Sunbury where I met up with Diane to check out a neighborhood antique store advertising a vintage fabric collection...the fabric was ok, but my favorite part were the buttons! There were huge baskets filled with bright funky buttons! I wanted to snatch them all up, but I settled for a few handfuls. I'm set for my button swap :) I ended the day with flowers from David and a dinner of edamame and spicy scallop rolls from Akai Hana....Mmmmm....30 won't be so bad (insert deep breath)...
