Finally, I am done with my swap projects...with many apologies to my poor partners. If you are reading this, I can assure you they are very fantastic! I will be sad to part with these lovelies...but I am packing them up today. I finished these Sat morning before work and came home on my lunch break just to get a proper photo of them. Today, with wet ground and rain outside, I think it is the perfect day to hide indoors and perhaps make MORE cup cake pincushions and needlebooks...I think they would make great gifts for sewing friends! Want to make some too? Snag yourself a copy of Betz White's Warm Fuzzies from the library (that's what I did!), but that said it is worth buying. Lots of cuties to make in this book. My copy is overdue actually...

Hey Cupcakes!

More fun with felting
Continuing with my obsession with felting wool sweaters, I used up the sweater scraps from the 2 bags I created to make a patchwork scarf:
I lined it with a deep red micro suede so it feels really nice on the red side...and creating a little patchwork enabled me to use some of my favorite Japanese imported fabrics. Because I put it together using the foundation piecing method the mix of cotton and thick wool came out nice and smooth. It really turned out quite lovely.
And now for some zombie news. I bought my cats some super
zombie cat treats from prairie bird designs last week and they finally arrived! Check out Pudge training to be a first class zombie fighter:

And the September obsession is...
Wool sweaters!!!! Somehow in the last 2 weeks, I've managed to acquire fourteen 100% wool sweaters. I've been hitting the jackpot at the thrift store. Today I got a sweater for a quarter! But since I have this amazing talent for starting projects and never finishing them, this could be a bad sign...but 2 bags and 1/2 a scarf later in just one week... I feel these really will become things, beautiful things...Here is my favorite creation so far:
In case you can't tell, it's a bag. I really liked this close up shot. The sweater had this pretty lace-like embellishment at the bottom, and then I embroidered a little tree, threw in some vintage buttons and this is what came out! I'm about halfway done with a scarf too, just in time for fall...pictures and story coming tomorrow!
