More Tea Party dresses...

Sometimes, I get a little obsessed with the things I like. Sometimes this is bad (i.e. I own way to many uncut patterns and pieces of fabric). Other times, it results in amazing bursts of creativity and energy -which is the case with these dresses. I made two more Oliver + S Tea Party dresses this week. I have no idea how I whipped these gals out. Seriously, neither of these were started before Sunday morning and I have been at work every day this week (today I am finally on day 7 of a seven day stretch). Where the sewing energy came from? I have no clue.

I will tell you, these aren't actually finished...I still have add the hem and buttons and do some edge stitching, but these are details I feel convinced I can talk my mom into doing for me when I am on maternity leave :) Plus she is better at the finer details than me. I made these in the 3-6 months size, so hopefully I'll be able to put them on our baby girl a little sooner than my first one.

I eliminated the piping on these two, to make things go faster and easier...but I embellished on one with a little tulip embroidery. I thought the blue just needed a little something extra, next to the lovely tulip print I bought from Sew to Speak.

Here is one more close up of the embroidery. I embroidered the back too.

I have to say, despite being exhausted, I have been feeling so compelled to sew this past week. I think it is because I know I won't be doing much sewing for at least the first month of my baby's life, so I am cramming it in before it is too late. I feel this motivating pressure to sew up what I can in these next 12 days! We'll see how much sewing energy I have left though...I fear it is dwindling, but I do have the weekend off, so we'll see...

I think the energy for sewing is a very natural nesting instinct. The dresses are so sweet! I think the tulip one is my fave.
