Who needs baby Gap when you've got handmade?

I made this dress for baby girl this week. I am so in love with it...seriously gushing over its cuteness over here! I made the 6-12 month size so I think it will be a long while before she wears it, but I love love love it nonetheless! The pattern is an Oliver & S Tea Party dress and it was so fun to make (for the most part...there was a little swearing at my machine towards the end). What I loved about making it were the fun little details (i.e. the piping that lines the top and skirt panels). The pattern was pretty simple with great instructions and a few good challenges -the kind that make you a better sewer though. I've already cut out the 3-6 month size pattern too...who knows if I'll get to it, but this being my first piece of baby clothing I have ever made, I was thrilled at how fast it came together. I could easily make another one of these in an afternoon, so maybe I'll get to another one before baby. I'm not holding myself to anything though at this point, I've only got three weeks until everything completely changes and we are feeling pretty excited and anxious around here!

So adorable! I can wait to see some chubby arms and legs (and a head, too!) in that sweet dress.

I'm particularly impressed because I don't think I left the sofa (other than to go to work) for my entire pregnancy. Lovely work, and I really like your fabric choices. I hope you'll post photos of dressed baby when it fits her! Best wishes.

Eeek, the anticipation and excitement are contagious!

Beautiful, beautiful work on the dress, Amanda! I'm with @DiannaB--it'll be most adorable showing off some chubby little baby legs!

This dress is too much. I used to sew all the time, but not since the boys arrived. I have a large amount of fabric stashed away for future projects... I'm pretty sure if I had had girls that I'd be sewing away.

Gorgeous fabric choice!
