My new favorite room in the house...

Our baby's room is finally almost done...I can't resist posting a few preview pictures...

Here is the little corner by the window, with the rocker and dresser. Both pieces are repurposed items from the 70s or 80s! The dresser was my brothers growing up and I took it to college and everywhere else after that. We repainted it and added new knobs to freshen it up. The rocker-recliner we just covered with a slip-cover from Walmart, it was David's and also traveled with him to college.

Here is a closer shot of a little print I purchased from the black apple. It really ties all of the colors in the room together. I actually bought this before we were even pregnant...lucked out that it works so well in here:

More fun prints from elsita above the bookshelf (also a re-used item):

Just a few more finishing touches to pull together...still need to get a hamper and a few more wall decorations (hello etsy), but I am really feeling proud of how little we spent on this room and how easy it was to give a few old cast-offs a new life. I'm sure I'll be posting more pictures eventually, once there is actually a baby living in here!

I am feeling a mix of anxiousness and complete terror as my due date approaches. So many fears running through my head and so much anticipation. Everything is feeling so very real now...the baby has a room, we now own a car seat, we've toured the hospital...I know all these little things are necessary and part of the process of becoming parents, but in the moment sometimes I feel struck at how HUGE this change is going to be...so much bigger than anything else in our lives, ever.

It's beautiful!! I love the wall color.

When we finished J's room, I remember getting butterflies in my stomach picturing a little swaddled baby in this crib, in this room. :)

Your dresser looks a lot like the repainted one we put in J's room. It was my husband's aunt's dresser and we also painted it a glossy white and added stainless steel knobs.

Kudos on all the recycling and reuse you've done! Which makes me wonder... are you doing cloth diapers?

Thanks Katie!

I would really like to do cloth diapers...I've decided to try them out while on maternity leave to see how they will work for us, but not commit to them until I really see how things will be...Since both of us will be working full time, I worry about the time commitment, but I am def. going to experiment with them and see if I can make them work. Do you use cloth?

No, I wimped out. :)

But, I plan to at least give them a try on baby #2. I'll have to come to you at that point and see what you recommend!

Oh Amanda, the room looks beautiful! I love the colors on the wall as well.

I know it's hard not to feel anxious and have a bit of terror leading up to the birth and this great change, but you will be so crazy happy when baby girl arrives and you will both be such great parents! I am so excited for you! xx

I'll be interested to learn how cloth diapers work out for you. I debated that with Eleanor and thought about doing for baby #2 but then have a feeling that it all equals out when you look at the washing, detergent, etc.

I love, love the room. Gorgeous! I would sit in Lydia's room before she was here...just envisioning what it would be like when she was really here...that helped me.

Fabulous! It's so bright and cheerful! We all have worries - even once they're here and growing! You've got a lot of people here to help, though, so don't forget that!
