Snuggler/Swaddler

Eliza love love loves being swaddled. We swaddle her up like a burrito every night before bed and often for naps too. David and I however are HORRIBLE at swaddling with receiving blankets, we just do not do it tight enough. We resorted to buying several of these, to make things easier on us. So in my first few moments of craft time post-Eliza, I decided to make the Snuggler from Lotta Jansdotter's new book, Simple Sewing for Baby. Here it is so far. It just needs some velcro and it's done:

I thought I would try and test it out on Eliza, even without the velcro, so I could get a picture of her looking all cute in it for the blog, but it really needs the velcro in order to keep a squirmy little newborn inside...

Those Swaddle Me blankets really saved us with our guy. He liked being swaddled for months and months--we had to keep buying bigger sizes!

Again, I wish I could sew and could've made a cute funky one like yours!

OH yes, Si was so tiny that he was actually pretty easy to swaddle for quite a while. I often carried him in a sling, too, when he was new, and that helped snuggle him even tighter, with the help of gravity.

I love the swaddler, and the baby is adorable! I will have to check out that book, I love Lotta's style.

Super cute! How does she like the swaddler (assuming it's velcroed now and you use it)? I'm thinking of making one but want to know how babies are taking to it first :)

She likes it altho it is not quite as long in the arms as the store bought ones and she can wrestle her arms out eventually so we've only been using it for naps. I also did not use the pattern marks for the velcro placement. I put the snuggler around Eliza first and marked it with a fabric marker so it was more of a custom fit.
